UOB’s new Phrom Phong office by Kohn Pederson Fox features connected Pavilion and Tower blocks, intricate facades, and planted terraces.
The development includes 12 and 22 storey grade ‘A’ office
towers connected by a multi-storey linkbridge.
A grade ’A’ office development right next to Bangkok’s central
Lumpini Park. The development consists of double glazed office
spaces shaded by horizontal set backs and vertical elliptical
aluminium fins with integrated draiange. The offices link to an
exisiting office building at lower levels.
The original Tipco Tower on Rama VI Road in Bangkok and designed by SOM with A49 was completed in 1997 (An FA staff member had a small role in the original construction under the Facade Contractor).
The complex consists of a central tower with retail podium and mechanical / car park ramp blocks on either side all linked together by a common architectural language of smooth continuous horizontal banding but differentiated by vertical and horizontal fin expressions.
The Office levels are enclosed in a fully-unitised curtain wall system designed by Facade Associates to accommodate the subtly twisting and sloping forms on the south and east elevations. The facade gradually morphs from vertical to sloped back to sloped out without using any pre-bent framing or glazing, all the while maintaining the straight lines of the horizontal and vertical fins with integrated lighting, and level sill trims internally.
